Entrepreneur magazine had a list of the 12 distractions in the workplace. Background noise is listed number 3 distraction in a workplace. Take a guess at what number 1 and 2 are… Smart phones and emails respectively. That is no surprise. Imagine the background noise your clients receive from media outlets regarding everything from Medicare for all to prescription drug costs. One of the ways to get ahead of the client phone calls is to be informed. Are you reading the Friday NAHU Washington update? NAHU sends out this email every Friday afternoon and the email summarizes the week of regulation and bills passed. Great information to cut through the noise.

NAHU also lets you know what they are working on behind the scenes. No organization works harder for our industry than the NAHU staff. Currently, they have had success on the full repeal of the Medical Device tax, Health Insurance Tax (HIT) and the Cadillac Tax. NAHU also just submitted a letter to the house Ways and Means Chairman about providing Medicare Part D beneficiaries with the same protections as those beneficiaries enrolled in Medicare Advantage (MA) plans under the recently restored Open Enrollment Period (OEP). More great information to cut through the noise!

Finally, Ben Franklin said, “Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.” Ask a non-member to get involved and join NAHU!

Happy New Year to you and your families!
